Head Up. Hands Free.

Every once in a while a revolutionary product comes along that changes everything. The DataMask is not just about having a computer in your mask  it is about the many practical benefits provided by truly Hands-Free diving.

The DATAMASK contains a miniature liquid crystal display (LCD) panel, proprietary Digital Optic System, microprocessor, depth transducer, wireless cylinder pressure receiver, diver replaceable battery, and controlling software. The miniature LCD allows you to keep your eyes focused on the dive while presenting critical dive data including: current depth, elapsed dive time, cylinder pressure, and dive time remaining. The Digital Optic System provides a clear, highly magnified image of the LCD, which is viewable regardless of environmental conditions and may be seen clearly by the vast majority of people, regardless of vision.

  • In-mask Digital Optic System provides a clear, highly magnified image of the LCD, which is viewable regardless of environmental conditions and may be seen clearly by the vast majority of people, regardless of vision
  • Allows “Hands-Free Diving” for greater convenience, enjoyment and safety during the dive
  • Wireless Air Integrated Technology with patented Air Time Remaining Algorithm
  • Audible Alarms with User Acknowledgment
  • Adjustable backlight intensity may be set on the surface or underwater, allowing the user to fine-tune display so that it is easily readable, yet not distracting
  • Advanced User Settings & Options

Air or Nitrox

The DataMask HUD acts simply as an 'Air' computer until you tell it otherwise, whether that is this weekend or 2 years down the road. As your training and experience grow, the DataMask HUD is designed to grow with you, being easily programmed for Nitrox mixtures from 21% to 50%.

FO2 50% Default On/Off

Following a Nitrox dive, many dive computers calculate your next dive based on a "worse-case scenario", mix of 50% Oxygen and 79% Nitrogen should you forget to reset your actual mix. With FO2 50% Default OFF, your mix remains at the original set point until you change it again.

Receiver ON/OFF

Since the only information sent by the wireless transmitter is cylinder pressure and transmitter battery status, the DataMask HUD is actually a fully functional Personal Dive Computer without air integration features when the Receiver is set Off.

Dive Mode Selection

Activate Digital Gauge Mode for dives conducted beyond the limits of the Air/Nitrox computer, Free Dive Mode or NORM Mode for Air and Nitrox dives.

Audible Alarm On/Off

You may choose to deactivate all audible alarms.

Maximum Depth Alarm

The Maximum Depth Alarm provides an audible warning upon reaching your planned maximum depth. This is an important safety feature for deeper dives or less experienced divers, and it comes in handy for rebreather diving where you can pre-set another level of safety.

Elapsed Dive Time Alarm

You're on a boat trip and the captain says, "Dive your own profiles, but be back in an hour - we're having lunch!" Just set your DataMask HUD to alert you when your elapsed dive time reaches one hour.

Nitrogen Tissue Loading Bar Graph Alarm

Oceanic's trademark nitrogen bar graph design provides the ultimate user-adjustable computer. Want to be a bit more cautious? Make it a personal rule to never enter into the caution zone, or stay one pixel away, or - you get the point. Now you can program the DataMask HUD to do it for you. Set it once and let your computer alert you when your bar graph reaches a pre-determined level.

Dive Time Remaining Alarm

Dive Time Remaining provides a 'real' number in minutes. This calculation considers both Nitrogen and Oxygen absorption, displaying whichever allows less time. With this unique DataMask HUD feature, you are able to program an audible alarm to alert you upon reaching a pre-set number in minutes.

Turn-Around Pressure Alarm

The 'Turn-Around' Pressure Alarm is a unique patent-pending feature that allows you to pre-program an audible reminder when you reach 1000 to 3000 psi in 250 psi increments. This helps ensure that you return to your exit point with plenty of air.

Ending Pressure Alarm

Air Time Remaining calculations are based on the 'Ending' Pressure Alarm. You define how much air you want in reserve upon reaching the surface.

Maximum PO2 Level Alarm (Nitrox)

When diving Nitrox, do you prefer your maximum PO2 exposure to be 1.2 ATA? 1.6 ATA? Depending on where you learned and your own personal comfort zone, the answer may be very different from diver to diver. The DataMask HUD lets you set your own limit. Program an audible alarm to sound at the level that you prefer.

Water Activation On/Off

The DataMask HUD automatically enters Dive Mode when the water contacts are wet, and the unit is submerged past 4 feet. To avoid this when swimming or enjoying other water sports, simply set Water Activation Off.

Units of Measurement

Choose between Metric and Imperial settings for date, temperature, depth and pressure.

Automatic Safety Stop Prompt with Adjustable Depth and Time

Set the Automatic Safety Stop Prompt On or Off. Set the Stop Depth to 10, 15 or 20 feet and the Stop Time to 3 or 5 minutes.

Personal Conservative Factor

Set the Conservative Factor On to further reduce your exposure to decompression sickness.

OceanGlo® Backlight Duration and Intensity

Would you like the backlight to shut off as soon as you release the button? Would you rather it remain on for 0, 5, or 10 seconds? Would you rather it remain on continously during the dive? We don't need to make these decisions for you; it's your choice. The DataMask HUD even allows you to make modifications to these settings "on-the-fly" during the dive.

PC Interface Sampling Rate

You have the option to choose at which rate the DataMask HUD samples and stores data for later download to your PC.

Transmitter Link Code

The DataMask HUD wireless transmitter sends an encoded serial number, so that multiple units may be used side-by-side without interference.

Diving for the 21st Century
Review by Nate F (Posted on 10/25/15)
Just dove this mask for the 1st time today.

1) Worth the price, especially if you can get it used. The manual and the software you can get free online from Oceanic, so no worries if it is without. I bought an extra gasket and battery just in case, but the one in it seems to work just fine.

2) Software isn't hard to use, but isn't always stable either. I found the beta version is better and more stable than the earlier edition from the website. You can download both, but really, just go with the newer beta version. Also the connection cable hookup is epic bad - really no excuse for it in a mask this expensive. You should be able to plug in the cord without the amount of play in it, and it should be keyed. Right now you can easily put in the connector the wrong way up. I found it works best if you lay the mask on your computer desk, touch the cable to you tongue to wet it, then plug it in. Even then, you're going to have to fiddle with the connections while looking into the dataport in the mask to ensure it is connected and stays that way during the data handshake. Takes a couple tries generally. I didn't need to download any drivers from Oceanic for the cable. Windows 7 detected the cable and installed it pretty much straight after I plugged in to the USB port.

3) Make sure you set the transmitter ID in the mask 1st, THEN upload the mask data to the software, and double check the transmitter ID is correct in the software and you will have no problem pairing them. The second I added the transmitter to my high pressure port, turned on the tank valve, and turned on the mask, it sync'd within about 4-5 seconds.

4) Mask is a bit front heavy, even in the water. Not unmanageable, but you'll notice the difference, even in the water.

1) Hands free data at your finger - er eye - tips. Makes hovering at a specific depth quite easy. Also great as an instructor to leave your eyes and hands free to deal with students.

2) Mask actually seals very well. This is the 1st mask I have had in a long time I didn't need to use a thin layer of Vaseline around the mask skirt to prevent it from flooding. Has tended to be an issue with every other mask I have dove with, and I have been diving about 20 years.

3) Download the data to the software and BoOm! your dive log is filled out, with a graphic representation of your dive profile. Easy peazy.

4) Nose piece is easy to grab, even with gloves, to equalize. Also, buttons are easy to work, even with 7mm gloves on.

1) Expensive toy, even used. Don't loose the mask on a dive - you're going to get to work on your search and recovery skills.

2) Have to find a way to look through the dataport without the mask on when connecting it to the computer.

3) While the documentation about the mask itself isn't as bad as some reviewers have complained about, yeah, it's still pretty bad. Apparently and engineer and not a trained technical writer did it - or the technical writer got a "D" in layout, design, and English. The help/manual for the software (all in the software - no hard documation) IS epic bad. Fortunately the software is pretty easy to figure out once you start playing with it. Don't even bother trying to figure out to pair the thing with the transmitter using the documentation or the software documentation. Just follow the directions another reviewer put up here with the tips I provided. Make sure you do it BEFORE you head out to dive.

4) Field of view is decent from the front, up, and okay to the left. View is basically completely restricted looking down your chest. Not a huge deal but you'll need to feel around down there if you need to adjust something. Also, field of view to the right is somewhat restricted do to the data screen. But it isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be overall. Better than the mask I used to dive with 10 years - before the developed wide field of view masks.

Overall worth the price, especially if you can get it used.
Best Ever

I am an Advanced Open Water diver, with my Wreck diver certification. This mask is a God Send, for wreck diving. The hands free use , lack of an extra hose and easy to read display, are super handy in tight, low vis areas inside you favorite wreck. The only downside, and it's really nit-picking, is that's it's pretty big, I'm a small guy, so I have to clear it more often than a larger diver would. But I would say if it fit's you well BUY IT, you wont regret it.
VERY good investment!
Review by Steve W (Posted on 6/18/15)
Purchased mask June 2014. Have logged 112 dives since. Originally wanted latest and greatest wrist mounted computer but "thankfully" they were too popular and out of stock when needed. Jimmi at my favorite dive shop (Steve's Scuba in Springfield, MO - no relation) talked me into the DataMask HUD. It's awesome in every way! Saves air as you’re not spending time constantly stopping to find/look at dive computer....just look down with your right eye anytime and it's all there! I typically dive in very murky waters and this mask particularly shines in that environment - I call it my little buddy. Crank up the display if you have a lot of ambient light and it's great then too! I did just have to return it today for warranty service as appears finally after 112 dives a seal may have let a little moisture in (nothings perfect people but this mask is darn close). I'm certain it will be fixed and my "little buddy" will be home soon. The computer interface cable connection and ease of use could be better but once connected the information available is impressive. I hope Oceanic continues this product and doesn't give up on it as with some awareness this mask will be a huge seller. I designed machinery for 15+ years and those that know me will be tell you I'm not easily impressed ....despite a little minor leak hiccup I remain very impressed with this mask to the point I just ordered a second for my dive buddy. Very good mask/computer. Thank you Oceanic and Jimmi

I used this mask in a few dives and I can say it is one of the best investments in terms of SCUBA diving I've done.
love it

Have had my data mask for a few years it has performed flawlessly only one issue is that the mask is too big for the wife so she cant have one.
Object of Envy
Review by Red Sea TigerTeam (Posted on 3/9/13)
Only about 30 dives with this mask I found in an electronics store of all places. The first thing I noticed was that my consumption went down. This alone made my dives more enjoyable. Had some flooding issues, but after I adjusted the mask, no problem. From time to time downloading can be annoying. I love this mask and would hate to go to a wrist computer after being spoiled by my Datamask. The safety stops seem effortless now. My friends are green with envy, they were with me when I picked this up on clearance!!!

I have around 400 dives on the Data mask and I am thinking about buying another one to have when this one wears out. I have replaced the strap twice and have replaced many batteries but that is it. I love having all my information available without having to look away and open water safety stops are a breeze. There are two issues, it takes a little getting used to because of the high volume but all you have to do is put it on a little low to start the dive and downloading it can be a pain.
I not only would buy it again, I intend to buy another!
Simply Perfect
Review by N2O2 (Posted on 4/11/12)
After around 150 dives with this mask, i tried a couple of dives with a wrist computer. NO comparison! Air consumption was higher because of having to constantly check wrist, then focus again on where i was. won't dive without this mask unless it's an emergency situation now. Also perfect fo spearfishing, i never lose sight of my location or targets with thiss mask! Definitely recomended!!
Excellent Mask / Computer
Review by EPDiver (Posted on 2/4/12)
I have used this Mask/Computer for a year and love it. I dive with Kids and this makes it easy to keep an eye on them AND my computer. Also this mask makes it easy for the end of dive ascent up the mooring line. I can hold on to them and the line and see their computer and my own all with only 2 hands! This Mask also fits every member of my family easily which is kind of unusual when 2 of them include Kids. Only room for improvement might be that the Download cable can be a little quirky to keep from coming loose when downloading. Still I give this 5 Stars! Love This Mask / Computer

Excellent kit ,hope that this not where this excellent technology stops HUD is the future as we move toward CC rebreathers .

Have over 125 dives on this Mask, Flawless performance, Exceptional Durability. A must for low visibility Pacific Northwest Diving! Alarms are audible and the flashing warning indicators make this a VERY safe buddy in the water. The hands free operation and lack of extra hoses, POINT BLANK readout makes this system worth it's weight in gold. Highly recommend!
